The beautful village Puchberg is situated 80 km south from Austria's capital Vienna in Lower Austria and well known for hiking and relaxing in fresh healty air. The Schneeberg (2075m) is the highest mountain in the region. It is difficult to describe this mountain, to say what it is realy like. Those who have never walked across its alpine meadows, which are mossy, as soft as down and full of fragrant flowers, those who have never enjoyed the marvellous view, as far as Lake Neusiedl or even Hungary in the East, and as far as the glaciers of the Dachstein in the West, will hardly be able to understand why this mountain has always attracted so many people.
The Schneebergbahn has been rolling for 105 years. And it has always been at the height of its time. With a coal-fired boiler headed for the highest peak in Lower Austria. The locomotives of the Schneebergbahn have left their tracks along more than one hundred years of railway history. Travel time is 1 hour and 20 minutes. The new Salamander trains meet the most rigorous environmental and emissions standards. Travel time is 50 minutes.
Relax in the beautiful surroundings of Puchberg. All our 16 rooms have en-suite facilities, satellite TV, radio, hairdryer and a phone. All our rooms have a balcony or facing the garden with a stunning view of the Schneeberg mountain. Our guests appreciate the peaceful setting of our inn, and they love to relax under the trees of our park. In the summer you can bask in the sun on our sunbathing lawn. The park is reserved for our guests only!We are famous for our excellent cuisine! Our chef de cuisine and his team prepare the mouthwatering dishes like in the good old days, and you can also savor our delicious homemade cakes. Our restaurant seats 170 people, but you can also wine and dine in the non-smoking room in the conservatory, or sit outside in the garden.
Summer and Winter - Puchberg offers activities the whole year.
Das skiing area Losenheim is located only a view kilometers from the center of Puchberg. The "Schneebergbahn Lift Company" has invested almost 3 million Euros in improving the quality of the whole skiing area. Apart form the new "Ski Centre" the snow making facilities and the pistes have been extended and greatly improved. There is about 50.000 cubic metres of water in the new Schneeberg Lake, ready and waiting to be used for snow making. A very narrow part of the Schneeberg has been widened, and the piste area beneath the Edelweiss Cottage has been redeveloped, making this a lot more attractive to the whole family. It`s also possible to do cross county skiing, ice skating, ski touring or sledding.
