The Garden Hotel “Giardino Giamperduto” is situated in Bernalda, a little town in Basilicata (Southern Italy ), a few kilometres from the sandy beaches of the ancient greek Metaponto and from Matera with its “Sassi” Unesco heritage. The name "Giamperduto" probably derives from "Ciommo perduto" (border stone removed) and testifies the old dispute between the local people of Bernalda and the monks of the Benedictine abbey of Montescaglioso. The farmers of Bernalda were often accused to remove - to their own advantage - the boundary stones to assert their rights of pasture, cut wood and hunt in this territory still today rich of fauna and ideal place for the observation of many species of birds.

The Garden Hotel, surrounded by orange groves and seculare olive trees, will look to you like a piece of rural life that encompasses history and traditions of Basilicata. The original building was built in the twenties, as a storehouse, and it is now an excellent example of rural architecture mixed with the Mediterranean Tradition. The design and the restoration of the area was followed by the Architect Franca Di Giorgio with the Sculptor Gaetano Russo and the ownership.
